2012 Tribute from our Owner

Year End Message 2012    As 2012 draws to a close, I would like to take a moment to thank our liveries for the trust you have placed in us, for your continued support and friendship.     For those who have referred a fellow rider, I would like to tell you how much I appreciate it – it’s always an honor to receive a personal recommendation, and it’s a pleasure to help new clients into the Canterbrooke fold.   2012 has been a crucial and eventful year in the development of Canterbrooke, as we set course to become a Graded Venue for Show Jumping and Dressage.  This of course...

Double size dressage arena

Construction continues at Canterbrooke with our new double size warm-up show arena.   Just as spring sprung, construction is complete on our new double size warm-up dressage and show jumping arena, to rave reviews.   The joy on the faces of horses and riders is priceless.   It is under a year that we built the original warm-up arena.  We are continually investing in our facilities to provide the best service and hospitality for our liveries, Graded Shows, Training Shows and spectators.  Hence, to keep up with demand, we retained the original foundation and foot print of our single...

Yard Life

Daily life in the Canterbrooke yard.   I am privileged to share in my Team’s successes every day.  Nothing beats the feeling of a job well done and I often get happy goose bumps seeing and listening to Management and Grooms recounting their days in the yard with our horses and liveries.   Canterbrooke’s staff is at the heart of our service; their competence in the yard is driven by our Stable Manager, Shaneen Phillips, with her excellence and innovation in all areas of our business.  Together we are continuously working on our systems and staff training in order to consistently...

A Tribute to Team Canterbrooke

Looking back on 2011, I salute and pay tribute to ‘Team Canterbrooke’ who has stood by me over the past chaotic, exhausting, exhilarating 8 months. 2011 was one for the records and never to be forgotten. The dream started in January 2011, the search for a property covered a frenetic few months. We found and named Canterbrooke – it was love at first sight. ‘Canterbrooke Equestrian Estate’ was built up from virgin soil and is now a beauty sitting way up on a hill – with breathtaking views. It was a project that would grow into something more than the Team...

Canterbrooke goes GREEN

Being a new yard, and developing an old air strip and virgin soil from scratch, parts of Canterbrooke showed some similarities to the Sahara desert. We looked at this, we sweated on the dry soil for too many days and decided to go green! We are now the proud owners of several hundreds of lavender bushes and wild garlic plants which will all be planted around the stable barns to help us with the fight against AHS and repel some insects. We did not stop there, Kim and Shaneen went indigenous and ordered us loads of trees and hedging to provide shade, to line our arenas and driveways. We have...

December 2011 Pony Camp

With it being school holidays, it was time for pony camp. We had two fun filled days of horse love. The kids spent the days learning about horse care, stable care and riding. On day 1, the little rascals kicked off with some horse riding and then moved on to more caring matters. They learned how to groom a horse, what all the brushes were called and how to properly take care of your grooming kit. This being hard work, it was time for some lunch and swimming while the instructors enjoyed a much needed sit in the shade. Being around horses is a dirty business and cleaning a stable was next on...
